Building the future of African agriculture
Agrotronics was born in Ibadan in 2023, from a simple frustration: Nigerian farmers were losing crops to drought and flooding β problems that sensors and automation could prevent. We set out to fix that.
Our Mission
To equip every Nigerian farmer β from smallholder to agribusiness β with affordable, reliable IoT tools that increase yield, reduce waste, and build climate resilience.
Our Vision
A food-secure Africa where precision agriculture is accessible to all, not just the wealthy few. We see a continent where data-driven farming is the norm, not the exception.
Our Commitment
We are committed to building in the open, pricing fairly in Naira, supporting local manufacturing, and ensuring our platform works even on 3G networks in rural areas.
From a university lab
to 500 farms
Our co-founders, Adebayo and Chidinma, met in the Department of Agricultural Engineering at the University of Ibadan. During their final year project, they built a basic soil moisture sensor using an ESP32 and some cheap capacitive probes.
The results stunned them. A farmer they tested with β Baba Tunde, who had been farming yam for 30 years β reduced his water usage by 38% in the first season without losing any yield. He told them: "This small machine knows my farm better than I do."
That moment convinced them to build Agrotronics. They dropped their PhD plans, raised a small pre-seed from friends and family, and spent 2023 iterating in the field with real farmers across Oyo, Ogun, and Kwara states.
Today, Agrotronics monitors over 12,000 devices across 500 farms and has helped farmers save an estimated 40 million litres of water β and counting.

Our values
Farmer First
Every decision we make starts with the question: does this make the farmer's life better?
Local Innovation
We build for Nigerian and African conditions β our hardware survives harmattan, flooding, and power cuts.
Open & Scalable
From a single plot to a 500-hectare agribusiness, Agrotronics scales without friction.
Impact Driven
Food security is a moral issue. We measure success in lives improved, not just revenue.
